Whitefish Point - The Scenic Route

We went to Whitefish Point today for something to do. The bike seems to be burning a little oil with the 5W50 in. I'll switch back to 15W50 on the next oil change and see if that fixes it.

Map.

It was threatening to rain when we left at 1pm. The sky was dark and gloomy and it was spitting on us, so we stopped in at Dunham Sports to get rain gear for Shawn and Jim. When we finally found an employee, they directed us to the Golf section and showed us some really terrible rain jackets, so we decided to forget about that and chance it. I'm really glad we did. About at Brimley it opened up and got bright and sunny. We had a great ride!

We took the long way, all along the coast. The view was amazing. This was a much better idea than just going out M-28.

The last time I was there was about 15 years ago. It's gotten much more touristy. It was hard to find a parking space and when we did, we were funneled to three attractions and three gift shops. The shipwreck museum gift shop is even bigger than the museum itself. We walked down to the beach and ate our sandwiches (with sand in them from the strong wind). Yum.

Shawn ran around with my SLR camera. She wants to buy a Nikon D60, so she's getting some practice in first. The photos turned out really well. She has some really good composition in some of them, like the one in this story.
